Vagabonding!

Vagabonding. A burning desire you feel deep inside yourself for something more, something different. A need to see different places, touch their culture, inhale their way of life and walk a path not often traveled.

When I first thought about vagabonding and traveling all over the world on foot, I though "No, I can't do that, there's too many dangers! I would end up dead!" Since then, I've looked around me, and seen that there are always dangers wherever you go, some more serious or imposing than others, but always there, nonetheless. When I walk down the street, I take the risk of being hit by a car. When I eat food at a restaurant, I risk eating contaminated food. Merely sleeping in my bed at night, I could entangle myself in a blanket and suffocate! But When I take certain precautions, I live to see another day ;) So Why shouldn't vagabonding be the same?

Have you ever found yourself feeling a longing? Or feel like you are toting around an empty purpose in a meaningless life? Have you ever desired to follow a road or path are far as it goes, or dance along the rails of an abandoned train track? If you have, you know EXACTLY how I feel.

I want to touch the culture of others, and see how they live day to day. I want to laugh in the rain in Ireland, and feel the warmth of the sun on my back in Egypt. Touch the Eiffel Tower, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Try Italian cheese & wine. So many things I want to do, try, touch, smell, learn. =)
For now, while I wait to begin my travels, I will be content with planning, and saving, but someday. Someday I'm going to travel! ;) :)

  1. I have no doubt that you will travel far and wide enjoying other cultures, their foods and their language. But don't forget that there are many fabulous places to see in our country as well. The Grand Canyon, the hot springs, the geysers, dino digs, volcanoes, go on a paddleboat ride up the Mississippi River, Wyoming looks amazing, climb mountains to the top in order to see 360 degrees...even in Maine there is a spot up North where the sun touches first before anywhere else in the country... so many places here to see...

    1. It's not that the USA doesn't hold appeal, by any means! I just like the idea of experiencing something/somewhere new! =) Plus, I've never been very interested in the Grand Canyon, or Hot springs... Kayaking down rivers, or climbing mountains, maybe, but right now I'd really like to see landmarks of other countries. I have a rough idea of the various "cultures" in the USA, and I want to experience something new in another country. They fascinate me & call me to me in a way that the USA landmarks and states don't... =) So, Yes, I will still visit parts of the USA, but I am a little more focused on visiting other countries right now =)
